We wanted to let everyone know that Kevin remains in the hospital for the time being. He is doing okay, but the doctors wanted to keep an eye on him. He may be able to go home as early as today. We’ll keep you posted. It will be a few days before he can take visitors, so please call ahead at the home phone number before stopping by. Thanks for your understanding.

We’re also excited to announce details for Kevin’s 30th birthday party at Citizens Bank Park. We are very grateful to the Phillies organization for opening up Citizens Bank Park — one of Kevin’s favorite places — to host this special occasion. Tickets are now available here and details can be found below.

Kevin Neary’s 30th Birthday at Citizens Bank Park

Please join us at Citizens Bank Park on September 14th to celebrate Kevin’s 30th birthday! Ticket price ($40) includes dinner at the Diamond Club at Citizens Bank Park, and free parking at the stadium.  There will be a cash bar.

There will also be a silent auction. We already have auction items from great Philadelphia hotels and restaurants, casino packages, getaway opportunities at the shore and in Orlando (with more to come), exclusive sports tickets and memorabilia for Philly professional and college teams, theater tickets, comedy tickets, gift baskets….even the chance to win a ride-along with the Commissioner of Police!

Want to make a donation to the event? Want to contribute a gift to the auction? Contact Denise Neary at nearys51@comcast.net

Another hospital trip

Kevin had to make another trip up to Riddle Memorial Hospital last night to get checked out.  He has had some blood pressure issues and his temperature was a little higher than normal. They kept him over night and we are not sure how long he will be staying.  He might be home as soon as today or tomorrow.

Because of the level of care he needs, the admitted him to the ICU and he will be in room 2602.  This is just because of the amount of attention he needs while in the hospital, not due to anything critical. They allow visitors but please call JP or Dad before you head over. We would like to keep visitors light until we find out what exactly is causing these issues.

We will share and update when we have more information.

Good morning everyone.  Just a quick update to let you all know Kevin is home and doing well. After a day of rest Kevin is ready for visitors again.  If you are planning on stopping by please give JP or Joe a call, text or email just to be on the safe side.

Thanks to everyone!

Quick update

Good evening everyone.  We just wanted to share a quick update.

The good news: Kevin was mentioned on the Preston and Steve show today!  You can check out the podcast at http://prestonandsteve.libsyn.com/webpage/daily-feed-06-18-12 (Kevin is mentioned around the 1:52 mark). Details for the event mentioned will be shared in the near future so stay tuned!

The not so great news: Kevin had to make a trip to the hospital today to get some IV antibiotics to fight off an infection.  The good thing is they were able to identify it and lay out a treatment plan pretty quickly. We will share another update as soon as he gets home.

Thank you all!

JP

Update on Kevin’s Progress, House Addition, and Fundraising Efforts!

It’s been some time since we last posted, so we wanted to give you a few updates on Kevin’s progress, as well as extend our thanks for recent events in support of Kevin.

Kevin has been doing well over the past few weeks, although there have been a few bumps along the road. He is making progress with his pacing equipment. Kevin is currently up to six hours each day off the ventilator, which is really great.

He appreciates that folks are still coming to see him. We want to remind everyone to call ahead if possible to ensure that Kevin is at home and able to take visitors.

Big update – addition to the house

We hope to begin work on the addition to the house next month! The addition will make everyday life a lot easier for Kevin, so we’re excited to get to work on it. If you are interested in donating your time or supplies to help with the project, please contact Mike Neary at 609-390-0248. Thank you!

Update on Fundraising

We are really grateful that fundraising efforts continue to support Kevin (and help pay for items like the addition). There have been several events that have supported Kevin recently. We wanted to thank a few organizations and individuals for their work recently on Kevin’s behalf:

  • Dave Logar Memorial Fund. The Dave Logar run went very well a few weekends ago.  The Fund donated $9,000 to the Kevin Neary Trust. We are grateful to the organization for supporting Kevin, and to the Friends of Kevin Neary who made it out to the event and helped raise funds! http://www.davelogarrun.com/
  • Homers for Hope. Yesterday, we posted some details on our Friends of Kevin Neary facebook page about the Homers for Hope event, being held today in Camden. Kevin’s friend and college roommate Brian Poliakoff is attending the event representing Kevin and our family; we appreciate the support from this great charity. Check out their website here: http://homersforhope.org/
