One more piece of the addition is now complete.  Thanks to the hard work of a volunteer crew a new deck has been added to the house that Kevin can easily access.  Now Kevin can enjoy the warm weather by going out the side door or the back door we just installed that will connect to the kitchen.  One of the next steps our dad is taking is to reconfigure a few parts of the house to give some of the hallways and rooms just a little more clearance and some more direct lines of sight.  Here are a few pictures of the new outside space.  Please stop over and check it out! As you know, the Friends of Kevin Neary (FOKN) will host the inaugural FOKN Golf Outing on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford, Pa.

We seek your help.

The event, set for 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 pm, will celebrate Kevin’s 31st birthday and help raise funds to support his continued medical care and other unmet needs.  (Reminder:   The KN Special Needs Trust is NOT a charitable trust; gifts to the trust are NOT tax deductible.)

All are invited for a fun day of golf, lunch, prizes and a silent auction –to benefit Kevin!

We hope to have 108 golfers attend.

We have been overwhelmed by the kindness  and generosity people have shown for past fundraising events, and appreciate so much your letting us reach out to you again.

The biggest news we have to share is that Kevin is now getting settled into his new section of the house.  Thanks to the hard work of so many volunteers, Kevin has been spending the past 2 weeks getting acclimated to the new surroundings. 

One of the newest features that has really improved this for the nurses, our dad and Kevin is the automatic lift system.  Having this in place cuts the time it takes to get Kevin in and out of bed, into the shower or into his chair.  It is also much safer and more comfortable than the portable lift we have been using for the past year.   Thanks to Closets by Design, Kevin’s space is well organized and his belonings are finally getting uppacked and moved out of storage in the basement. it is really starting to feel like his place.

There are a few things that are still in the works.  The outside railing for his ramp, a new deck to create an accessible outside space and of course finding the right furniture are all in progress. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of how things are coming along.

Now that there is a little bit more space we want to encourage everyone to visit Kevin as often as you can. As much as he would love to be able to pick up and head into the city or take a trip to see his friends and family, the logistics are sometimes a bit daunting. So if you can swing by, even for a little, I am sure he would appreciate it.
