We apologize for the lack of updates – we haven’t had Internet access at the hospital, so it’s been hard for us to post. But now that we’re at Jefferson we have wireless, so we hope to update this site more frequently, even if it’s just to let you know that things are okay.
Here’s the latest on Kevin. He was moved to Jefferson late last night. He’ll undergo a few routine procedures over the next few days to get him more comfortable and off the breathing tubes. Once that happens, we’ll be able to communicate with him much more easily, which we’re really looking forward to. He remains stable and I think he has really appreciated all of the visitors.
Thank you to everyone who has helped get the word out about the person the police believe is responsible for doing this to Kevin. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to get the word out. If you haven’t seen it yet, please click here and help spread the word. They haven’t found him yet, but he can’t hide forever. Kevin wants this guy off the streets so he can’t hurt anyone else.
A lot of you have asked how you can help. We have a tremendous amount of support already (especially in the form of food!). We know you want to help, so we are working out ways that we can bet harness all of the love you have for Kevin. We’ll keep you posted as those efforts come together.
We’ll have an update as soon as we get any more info. Thank you all again. We couldn’t do this without you.
Thinking of you all and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know as soon as you come up with a way for us to help out!
May God be with your family and Kevin. Rich Menton ’00
My friend, Manuela, has told me abut Kevin’s injury. My son, Daniel, suffered a spinal injury due to an accident in April. Will the circumstances that caused Kevin’s injury are very different, you may be sure that Kevin is now in my prayers. May God be pleased to do a mighty work of healing in Kevin. Daniel was at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, a center that specializes in severe spinal trauma for five months. Please feel free to contact us.
Dear Kev’s family….
Thank you so much for posting these updates. Our mutual friend, Selene, informed us what happened and we are incredibly shocked and upset. Kevin is an amazing person, please let him know Sara, David, and Jayla Bruce are sending him positive thoughts with love and blessings from Atlanta. Right now we have another little one on the way- and unfort. that’s keeping us from traveling home to Philly to say hi for the holidays. Tell him to be strong and above all keep Phightin’! xoxo
Thinking of you, Kevin, and sending lots and lots of prayers. I’m also sending loads of prayers for your family, that they can remain strong to help you remain strong. My brother passed away last month, and I believe he is in heaven. That being said, I’d like to think that he can help me expedite my prayers and get them directly to God. Let’s hope that’s true! Joe and Chris, if you need anything at all, please let Jake and I know.
Sending love, prayers, strength and thoughts,
Candace & Jake
Hi Chris and Joe,
Many thanks for the updates on Kevin, and it is so great that you are letting all us concerned friends know how he is progressing.
Please know that we are hoping and praying for a strong recovery from Kevin.
We firmly believe that with the strength of such a great family, and the help of friends , you will all get through this.
I worked with your Dad, Joe for many years, and met all of you, and know that through the years you have all become wonderful young men, through the strong family values that your Mom and Dad held.
You got through the untimely passing of your Mom with fortitude, and I admire you all.
You WILL get through this terrible setback, and our prayers are with you all.
Lorraine and Gordon Bassett
Please let Kevin know I’m in his corner. Although we haven’t spoken in years, I have not forgotten his kindness and gentle tenderness. Please if there is anything at all that I can do, please contact me at any time.

Miracles don’t just happen. Kevin has all the tools ready and waiting for him to recover. A loving family and Gods intervention will provide for the present struggles and the future hardships. Patient advocacy is key in this situation, apparently, Kevin will obtain all of the goodwill needed to transition through this very demanding portion of his life. Expect greatness from this man in the future, Kevin will satisfy all of his goals. His happiness and success has already been determined by those who surround him. May the Lord grant all of you the strength and the resources to see this through.

Missing you today Kevin – love you.
We are praying for you and your family during these challenging days ahead. May you feel God’s presence during this time. Your alma mater ” Sallies” played a tremendous soccer game last night in the State Championship. My daughters boyfriend played in it but for St. Marks. Sallies won 3 to 2 in 2 OT and are now the State Soccer champions. I am sure the players from Sallies had extra motivation to win this game for you Kevin! Hang in there.
